Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop

Hello friends,

I’m so honored to be part of the Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop. This hop is especially meaningful as it’s focused on sharing kindness with seniors who may be feeling alone around Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

This year, it holds an even deeper place in my heart. I lost my father almost a year ago, and this season feels a little different because of that. It’s made me reflect even more on how important it is to show love and appreciation while we can—and also to reach out to those who may not have someone close by.

That’s what makes something as simple as a handmade card so powerful. It can bring comfort, remind someone they’re thought of, and let them know they matter.

For my card, I wanted to create something warm and uplifting—like a small paper hug. Every detail was chosen with the hope that it might brighten someone’s day.

I love that this hop brings together creativity and compassion in such a meaningful way. It’s a beautiful reminder that what we make can truly touch someone’s life.

With any hop comes prizes! $200 in total prizes! To help support this card drive, Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $20 gift certificate to 5 winners!

Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or each designer’s blog post on the blog hop list below by March 31, 2026 for a chance to win. Altenew will draw 7 random winners from the comments left on each stop of this blog hop and announce the winners on the Altenew Blog Hop post on April 2, 2026.

  1. Gorgeous card…blue is my favorite color, and I love seeing ideas for ONE layer cards that are just as pretty as more “complicated” ones. I forget that one layer can be JUST as gorgeous as lots of layers!

We can all always do something until we can’t. Meaning, once someone is gone from this earth you can’t do the things with them that you used to do or want to do. So sorry to hear about the loss of your father. The first year of grief is the hardest. I’m glad you actually had a father to miss because some don’t get that luxury. Bring all the good memories to your mind. Especially the funny ones. Your card is beautiful. I wish there really was a blue rose.

  28. Love your card and color choices. So much inspiration. Thank you for sharing.

  29. So sorry for the loss of your father.
Your card is beautiful in those pretty shades of blue.

  30. Lovely card! The image and your color choice. I do like this card drive, first I heard of it. It gives me an outlet to use Mother’s Day sentiments (my Mom passed away 3 years ago) and also recognize other loving elders who have contributed so much to our daily life, more than we will other know. Thank you!

  31. Lovely card. TFS!

  35. This is a wonderful example of a card design that can be easily duplicated when one needs to make more than one. It is elegant and beautiful. Any colors can be used from soft to bright. A few embellishments, a lovely sentiment and a future happy recipient!
